It just goes to show [...]]]> I had a chance to sing in a Compline service last night at Blessed John XXIII parish in Fort Collins, Colorado.  What really made this special was the addition of a talented local harpist, Alaina Bongers.

It just goes to show you – never be unwilling to try new things!

(By the way, the [...]]]> Going on the advice from some friends over at the CMAA forum, I had the opportunity to attend Mass at St Etheldreda’s Church in Ely, London.  This was a Latin Mass, complete with chant, polyphony, accompanied by a small chamber orchestra.  When I get a chance, I’ll try to upload all the photos.

(By the way, the choir was directly ABOVE where I was standing when I took this picture.  A bit hard to explain, but it worked beautifully well!)

I was very pleased to see all the ordinaries and other responses of the congregation detailed (in chant notation!) in the Ordo Missae.  It was an absolute pleasure worshiping with others in this beautiful environment built in the middle ages, about 1250 AD.

It would have been wonderful to record the Mass, I suppose, but I’m a bit glad I didn’t.  Listening to a recording just isn’t the same experience as being present in the Mass.
